2 Day Marrakech To Erg Lihoudi Desert Camp Tour

2 Day Marrakech To Erg Lihoudi Desert Camp Tour

This private all-inclusive tour is suited to travellers determined not to leave Morocco without visiting the Sahara or who decide at the last minute to incorporate a stay in the Desert. It offers you a fast-paced two full days of travel traversing the High Atlas Mountains and arguably a road trip of a lifetime while rocking the Kasbahs on route to the Desert.

Description

Our fastpaced ‘Saharan Dune Express’ offers you a packed two full days road trip to the Saharan south and fleeting insights into the traditional rural culture and lifestyles of local communities in the mountains, oases and Desert region. You experience unique landscapes changing almost by the hour which avoids any question of ‘are we there yet?’

That said, we feel a two-day tour travelling such long distances does not ‘do’ the unique sights and experiences on offer justice, you will find it to be a long and tiring journey, however, we feel obliged to offer the tour due to its popularity. We do understand the push of desire to visit the Moroccan Sahara and to experience a camel ride in the Desert and at Desert Camp despite time restraints.

To improve upon the experience in a limited time frame, we have always opted to visit the Erg Lihoudi dune sets just beyond our hometown of Zagora which are the more impressive. The Desert area at Zagora, generally on offer to visitors, is in our opinion not worthy of a visit and overnight stay.

Atmospheric camps, fun and adventure and a journey into dramatic landscapes and lifestyles unlike any other, await you on this considered Saharan tour.

Highlights

  • A Memorable & Unique Road Trip.
  • Driving Back In Time.
  • Tichka Summit & Pass.
  • Ornate Sand Castle Kasbahs.
  • Authentic foods.
  • Towering Palm Oases As Far As The Eye Can See.
  • Patterned Shifting Sands & Dunes.
  • Camel Ride At Sunrise.
  • Desert Calm.
  • The Thrill of Adventure.

Description

You can also extend your Desert stay to two nights comprising one night in a Desert Hotel on arrival with additional exploration of the Sahara and activities the following day and one night at Desert Camp. Our compact one week ‘Sparkling Atlantic Coast & Dazzling Desert Dunes’ offers you an active, fast-paced insight into many varied regional landscapes including the most visited of the Moroccan Dune sets, accessed by journeying through the Kasbah filled Dades Valley.

You visit iconic sites in Casablanca and Marrakech before departing on a Desert tour into the more commercialised and therefore busy of the dune regions, particularly during peak Spring, Autumn and Winter holiday periods.

You travel through an incredible Kasbah lined geological area to reach the iconic Todra Gorge and ‘monkey fingers’ rock formations of the Dades Valley before accessing the Sahara directly from the Saharan town of Merzouga.

You later exchange the ochre sands and towering dunes of the Desert for remote mountain Berber villages and palm-filled oases routes, for the white sands at the coastal medieval port town of Essaouira.

About our Morocco Desert Tours from Casablanca

Browse the variety of private Morocco tours departing from Casablanca available here at  Morocco Exclusive Tours. Casablanca is Morocco’s commercial and Atlantic port city situated Northwest of Marrakech. Despite it being the least exotic of Morocco’s cities, it is a popular and convenient arrival and departure destination if you are travelling from the USA, Australia, Asia and Southern & Central Europe. Casablanca is ideally located should you wish to explore Morocco’s Northern Coast and the iconic Northern town of Chefchaouen, either of the Erg Chebbi or Erg Chigaga Desert regions of the Moroccan Sahara and all four of the Imperial Cities. For alternative arrival and departure destinations, view our collection of private tours from Marrakech or private tours from Tangier.

Like Tangier, Casablanca is a legendary Moroccan city, famous amongst travellers whose image of the Orient and especially of Morocco, has been shaped by the film of the same name. Its airport from which most international flights arrive and depart makes Casablanca an ideal destination to begin and end a Moroccan tour. It’s a city especially suited to our tours that explore all the Imperial cities of Morocco, such as Fes, Marrakesh, Meknes, and Rabat. Casablanca is also a great starting point of any Morocco tour that takes you to the country’s iconic mountain towns, Atlantic coastline, or the Berber Desert regions of the South, including the popular Chebbi and the authentic Chigaga Dune sets. Find out more about our 12-day Spice of Morocco tour, our 15-day Royal Routes into Morocco, and our 8-day Timbuktu trading route tour.

Casablanca is known for its cinematic history, however, so as not to be disappointed please be aware the city bears little resemblance to the classic Hollywood film of the same name. Casablanca is, instead, a city not unlike western cities, with wide boulevards and the hustle and bustle of a business center. On all of our Morocco tours from Casablanca, we rendezvous with you either at Mohamed V International airport or your accommodation. Please contact us if you have any questions about our range of tours from Casablanca.
